Who is Sharon Byrnes
After I suffered a repetitive use injury, I discovered the therapeutic benefits of yoga, which then inspired me to become a registered yoga teacher. I am certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. I have a Masters in Health and Physical Education and a second Masters in Special Education. I have taught for over 30 years.
I became a certified teacher of Bones for Life® in 2024.
Those are some of my qualifications, but even though I have a passion for yoga, yoga is only part of who I am.
Here are some lesser-known bits about this person with whom you will be working.
Born on a Saturday and as the saying goes, “Saturday’s child works for a living!” Some of my work has included teaching at a Fred Astaire studio when I was a teenager, telephone solicitor, business college recruiter, factory line worker, restaurant hostess, lifeguard, model, shoe salesperson, food sales rep … quite a few life lessons!
Cats are one of my great loves! My childhood kitten was a Christmas present from my grandfather. All of my other cats have been rescues, including cats named Poop, Fuzzy, Gulliver, Jenny-fur, Wini-fur and Tucker. My current loves are Nikki and Lucy-Fur… along with my husband, Jim.

THERAPUTIC YOGA IS IDEAL FOR BEGINNERS OR THOSE WITH HEALTH CONCERNS…
Most people want to participate in some form of physical movement as part of their self care practice, however people who are sedentary, who are carrying excess weight or are dealing with health issues or physical restrictions are often concerned that traditional movement/yoga classes may not be right for them.
Sharon’s expertise in the areas of Vibrant Aging, Health & Wellness, Age Specific Fitness and Movemeny Disorders along with her training in the Svastha and Ayurveda program of study according to Krishnamacharya, enables her to create a plan to meet the needs of each individual. Props are frequently used or created to support clients in their physical movements, and many practices can be done with little to no weight bearing to avoid strain on muscles, joints or connective tissues.
