Vibrant Aging

What the heck is that about?

Years ago, people used to believe that once you reached a certain age, you were simply "over the hill." This often meant that older adults would stop being active, resigning themselves to a sedentary lifestyle and potential health problems. However, we now know that this isn't true! No matter how old you are, there is always room for improvement through movement. Studies have shown that older adults who stay active enjoy better overall health, including stronger bones and muscles, improved balance and coordination, and a lower risk of heart disease and stroke. What's more, maintaining an active lifestyle can help to keep your mind sharp as you age. So if you're looking to live a vibrant and healthy life, there's no need to wait - start today!

Our dynamic life’s journey begins at birth when, believe it or not, we start aging. The developmental guidelines are expressed as milestones along a predictable continuum. As we reach age 45 and beyond, the continuum starts looking more like the downside of a bell curve. Your doctor may say that a particular ache or pain is “just part of the aging process,” and then perhaps dismiss whatever is troubling you.

But you are the driver of your well-being and the boss of your own self-care! You can determine, or at least influence your results. Do you want to merely accept that you are “over the hill” and naturally gaining speed? Or will you grab hold of the reigns and get into a healthy groove that has you feeling, moving, and living well? And here’s the important thing to remember: Your brain doesn’t know how old you are, but it is aging in response to your life choices.

That’s what “Vibrant Aging” is all about: Choosing to be the best version of yourself every day for the rest of your life. We can do this. Welcome aboard!

Working with Sharon has improved my mobility, balance, and strength but her reminder to move slowly and stay focused on my breathing has given me a tool for accessing my own inner piece and spiritual growth.

My stressful life requires me to seek help from classes with knowledgable teachers. While I enjoy the benefits of strengthening and building muscle, Sharon has taught me techniques for clearing my mind that help me to get the restorative sleep I need.

I am constantly referring friends to Sharon because she not only breaks concepts down to make learning easier, she explains the benefit or reason for any practice she recommends. Additionally, she is always encouraging and Fun!
